Context
Energy Insights is a SaaS platform designed to help manufacturing companies monitor and optimize their energy usage. I joined this project to improve how plant managers and energy operations teams detect inefficiencies, analyze consumption trends, and take corrective action.
BUSINESS OBJECTIVE
“ Evaluate the current energy monitoring platform, identify gaps, strategic inefficiencies and redesign. ”
What was broken
The system only provides a high-level monthly peak summary, limiting the ability to identify trends, anomalies, or optimize performance based on granular insights.
Frustration due to lack of actionable insight
Reduces ROI on analytics investment
Critical usage spikes might go unnoticed
The production report lacks customizable views and fails to capture contextual factors behind machine idle time. Users cannot correlate downtime with variables like temperature, feed rate, or shift patterns, making root cause analysis and performance optimization difficult.

Lower trust in system insights
Reduced credibility
May lead to false assumptions
The system generates alerts but lacks a built-in mechanism for documenting actions or resolutions, leading to missed follow-ups and accountability gaps. Additionally, the user interface is unintuitive, making it difficult for users to navigate, interpret, or interact with data visualizations efficiently.
Alert fatigue and confusion
Slower time-to-action
Increase learning curves and usage errors
